Sesame oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from sesame seeds. Sesame seed oil is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics as well as a massage oil. At the same time, sesame oil contains the natural antioxidants sesamol and sesamin which help preserve the oil for long periods of time. Sesame oil is the only oil which has a high percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acids and also keeps at room temperature.

Asia Pacific is the largest sesame seed oil producers and consumers, China, Middle East and Africa, Japan, India and SEA are the main producers of sesame seed oil worldwide. Restaurants and natural foods also purchase sesame seeds for use in food from various cuisines products like tahini and hummus, sushi and Eastern dessert. China has the largest production and consumption of sesame oil. The production of Asia Pacific reached 850 k tons in 2025, accounting for about 68% of the total global market.
