The precision and complexity of the printed molds can significantly reduce the need for post-processing and allow for lightweight designs. The primary material used is typically silica sand, although other types of sand can also be used. After each layer is printed, the platform lowers, and more sand is added on top to repeat the process. This continues until the entire object is built.
