Proportional Counter Tube are BF3 proportional counters and boron-coated proportional counters. The maximum counting rate of the counter tube is 5×10n/s, but the gamma radiation intensity of its working environment is generally below 1 Sv/h. The BF3 proportional counter can increase sensitivity by increasing the concentration of B. Boron coated proportional counter refers to the solid boron coated on the counter tube wall, the shell is made of aluminum, the shell is filled with argon, and the center is equipped with a thin wire electrode. It is connected to a high voltage power supply to obtain the higher electric field intensity required for gas discharge. The counter has a long life and recovers well after irradiation with high neutron fluence rate. However, the boron-coated layer can absorb some α particles, affect the energy of α particles entering the filled gas, and cause some fluctuations in the output pulse height, so the effect of pulse height discrimination is relatively poor.
