Photovoltaic system SPD is a surge protection device designed for photovoltaic power generation systems. It is used to prevent transient overvoltage caused by lightning strikes, grid failures or switch operations from damaging photovoltaic equipment. SPD is usually installed at key nodes such as the photovoltaic DC side, AC side and communication interface to effectively protect the safe operation of photovoltaic modules, inverters, junction boxes and control equipment. Photovoltaic systems are mostly located in high altitude, open or mountainous environments and are extremely susceptible to lightning strikes. SPD uses internal voltage-limiting components (such as varistors, gas discharge tubes, etc.) to instantly lead overvoltage to the ground wire, limit the port voltage rise rate, and thus reduce the risk of equipment breakdown.
