Global Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) Technology Market Growth (Status and Outlook) 2026-2032
Description
The global Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) Technology market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1096 million in 2025 to US$ 1625 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.9% from 2026 to 2032.
Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology is a distributed power generation technology that utilizes low-boiling-point organic working fluids to replace water vapor, achieving efficient conversion of thermal energy into mechanical energy and then into electrical energy under the drive of low-temperature heat sources (such as industrial waste heat, geothermal energy, biomass combustion flue gas, and solar thermal energy) at temperatures between 80 and 300°C. It features modularity, automation, low maintenance, and environmental friendliness, and is widely used in waste heat recovery in the steel, cement, and chemical industries, as well as in renewable energy sectors. Its upstream industry chain includes suppliers of core components such as turbine expanders, heat exchangers, working fluid pumps, and condensers, as well as manufacturers of organic working fluids, high-temperature sealing materials, and control systems. The midstream consists of ORC system integrators and equipment manufacturers, who need to master thermodynamic cycle design, working fluid selection, turbine efficiency optimization, and grid connection control technologies. The downstream primarily targets high-energy-consuming industrial enterprises, geothermal power plant developers, and integrated energy service providers. Due to high technical barriers, strong project customization, and its status as clean energy equipment, the overall gross profit margin of the industry is between 30% and 50%.
