Neutron radiography detection technology is based on the principle of interaction between neutrons and matter. Since neutrons are uncharged, when penetrating objects, they do not interact with the electrons outside the nucleus of atoms through the Coulomb force, so they can easily pass through the electron layer and directly hit the nucleus to cause nuclear reactions, such as absorption reactions, fission reactions, or scattering reactions. The stronger the nuclear reaction, the more the neutron intensity is weakened, so that the intensity of the penetrating neutron beam is weakened accordingly.

The imaging principle of neutron radiography detection technology is to use the neutron beam to penetrate the object. Due to the different factors such as the nuclide properties, nuclide types, and atomic nucleus density within the unit volume of the object, the intensity of the penetrating neutron beam changes. This change in intensity corresponds to the internal structure of the object, forming a neutron intensity distribution image. If the image detector is used to record and display the image, a comprehensive information image that characterizes the changes in nuclides, density, and thickness inside the object can be obtained, that is, a neutron radiographic perspective image.
