They are important tools for process control and safety monitoring in industries such as iron and steel metallurgy, non-ferrous metals, and mechanical heat treatment. From the demand side, metal surface pyrometers have evolved from "auxiliary tools for maintenance engineers" into essential sensors for process control and energy efficiency management in industries such as steel, aluminum, forging, and heat treatment. On the one hand, products such as high-strength steel, alloy steel, and aluminum alloys are becoming increasingly sensitive to heating-holding-cooling curves. Those manufacturers with real bargaining power are those that can differentiate themselves in high-temperature ranges, complex operating conditions, and system integration. For example, they can maintain stable measurements above 1200℃, handle high reflectivity, oxide scale, and smoke obstruction, provide stable emissivity compensation and calibration services, and integrate the pyrometer with PLC, DCS, MES, and quality traceability systems, turning it into the "process eyes" of heating furnaces and rolling lines. The growth potential worth noting in the next 3–5 years comes from two main sources: firstly, the upgrading demand for online pyrometers and surface temperature closed-loop systems driven by high-end steel grades, precision heat treatment, and aluminum alloys; and secondly, the integration with "digital production lines/industrial internet," which transforms pyrometers from single-point instruments into part of "data nodes + algorithm services." Whoever can upgrade from "selling a single meter" to "selling a complete temperature control/energy efficiency optimization solution" will have more stable gross profit margins and customer loyalty.
