Magnetorheological damper (MR damper for short) is an intelligent damping device based on magnetorheological fluid (MRF). Its core principle is to use the change of rheological properties of magnetorheological fluid under the action of magnetic field to achieve real-time controllable adjustment of damping force. Magnetorheological fluid is composed of non-magnetic mother liquid (such as silicone oil) and high magnetic permeability particles (such as carbonyl iron powder). It is in a low-viscosity fluid state in the absence of a magnetic field. When a magnetic field is applied, the particles form a chain structure along the direction of the magnetic flux lines, causing the liquid to instantly transform into a high-viscosity, quasi-solid state, thereby generating a controllable damping force.
