Low emissivity coating, also known as low-e coating, refers to a thin layer of material applied to glass surfaces to reduce the amount of heat transfer and infrared radiation. The purpose of low-e coatings is to minimize the amount of heat that can pass through the glass while still allowing visible light to transmit. This helps keep the indoor space warm and reduces heating costs.

Solar control low-e coatings, on the other hand, are designed to minimize heat gain during hotter months by reflecting a significant amount of the sun"s infrared radiation. This helps keep the interior space cooler and reduces the need for air conditioning, thereby saving on cooling costs.
