Advanced LoC models such as those from Aeva and SiLC can detect velocity directly using FMCW technology and achieve angular resolutions under 0.1°, with point clouds exceeding 1 million points per second. Field of view (FoV) ranges from narrow 30° × 30° for focused detection to wide 120° × 90° for panoramic coverage. Power consumption is typically under 5 W (often below 1 W in miniaturized chips), and packages can be as compact as <1 cm³, making them ideal for embedded applications in automotive ADAS, robotics, and AR/VR devices. Most systems are integrated via CMOS-compatible or photonic IC platforms and comply with Class 1 eye safety standards (IEC 60825-1).
