The resulting tape typically ranges in thickness from 20 µm to 200 µm and serves as the foundational layer for building multilayer ceramic structures. Depending on the dielectric characteristics and sintering profile, LTCC green tapes can be categorized into standard (850°C sintering), low-temperature (below 750°C for Ag conductor compatibility), high-dielectric (εr > 20), and low-dielectric (εr < 7) variants. These tapes are widely used in RF front-end modules, high-frequency filters, radar systems, automotive electronics, and embedded passive component integration in 5G and IoT devices.

With the increasing demand for high-frequency, high-integration, and miniaturized systems, LTCC green tape technology is evolving in several key directions. Firstly, low-loss and high-frequency performance is a priority, requiring ultra-low dielectric loss (Df < 0.001) and stable permittivity across a wide frequency range, making LTCC suitable for mmWave and 5G/6G applications. Secondly, thinner and more multilayered designs are emerging, with green tape thicknesses trending below 20 µm and stack-ups exceeding 30 layers to support complex SiP and RF module integration. Lastly, environmental compliance and domestic substitution are becoming increasingly important. Traditional LTCC tapes often contain lead or hazardous organics, prompting a shift toward lead-free and eco-friendly formulations.
