Unlike traditional magnetoencephalograms, this instrument does not require the use of cryogenic liquid helium for cooling, but instead uses zero magnetic field cooling technology or new solid-state sensors such as superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) or spin dispersion magnetometers (Optically Pumped Magnetometers, OPMs). This design makes the device more compact, more energy-efficient, and easy to use, making it suitable for more clinical environments and scientific research applications.
