Gadolinium oxysulfide GOS ceramics are a material with excellent scintillation properties. Its main component is Gd2O2S. It is widely used in radiation detection, nuclear medical imaging, industrial detection and other fields. Its main emission peak is at 512nm, and it has excellent properties such as high light output, high density (7.34 g/cm³), and short afterglow (less than 0.1%, 3 ms). GOS ceramics are translucent, moisture-proof, non-toxic, and easy to process, and the luminescence properties vary with the dopant. GOS ceramics belong to the hexagonal crystal system, are anisotropic, and exhibit birefringence at the grain boundaries, which makes the preparation of transparent ceramics very difficult. High light output and high density make it very useful in applications such as X-ray detectors, foreign body detectors, and radiation detection.
