The global Friction Type Torque Limiter market size is predicted to grow from US$ 334 million in 2025 to US$ 458 million in 2031; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.4% from 2025 to 2031.
A spring - loaded torque limiter is a mechanical device used to connect the prime mover and the working machine in a mechanical transmission system. Its main function is to protect the equipment from overload. It works based on the principle of a spring - loaded friction surface or a spring - loaded ball detent. The spring force is adjusted by nuts or bolts to preset the sliding torque. Under normal working conditions, it transmits the required torque. However, when the torque exceeds the set value due to overload or mechanical failure, it limits the torque transmitted by the transmission system by slipping, and at the same time, a signal is output to stop the motor and the reducer. After the overload situation disappears, it automatically restores the connection. This type of torque limiter can be divided into friction - type and ball - type (ball - roller type) according to the working principle. It has the advantages of low cost, simple structure, easy disassembly, maintenance, fast reaction after overload, high accuracy in setting torque, and long service life. It is widely used in various fields such as the electronic equipment industry, automated production lines, and the conveyor industry.
