Description

The global Extracorporeal Life-support (ECLS) Blood Pump market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1889 million in 2025 to US$ 8776 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 25.0% from 2026 to 2032.

The extracorporeal life support system (ECLS) and the traditional definition of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation are a modified extracorporeal circulation system used to provide long-term oxygen delivery to patients with cardiopulmonary failure. It uses an artificial extracorporeal circulation device composed of a circulating blood flow pump and an extracorporeal oxygen exchanger as the core to provide cardiopulmonary support for the purpose of extracorporeal alternative gas exchange support and heart replacement support, and provides cardiopulmonary support mainly for lung function support for patients with reversible severe cardiopulmonary dysfunction. The centrifugal pump is one of the core components of the artificial lung. The centrifugal pump artificial lung system can be regarded as a fluid control system, which is the power source part of this fluid control system, that is, the function of the heart. Its main function is to continuously extract the patient's venous blood and use centrifugal force to pump the blood into the external circulation pipeline.

At present, LVAD has gone through three rounds of iterations. The third-generation centrifugal pump technology (magnetic fluid suspension, magnetic levitation, etc.) is more excellent in performance. Since the withdrawal of Medtronic HVAD (using magnetic fluid suspension technology), full magnetic levitation (represented by Abbott HeartMate 3) has become mainstream in the United States. Clinical data show that the survival rate of full magnetic levitation LVAD is comparable to that of patients after heart transplantation, and it is expected to become the most ideal treatment method besides heart transplantation.
