A long endurance hybrid drone is an aircraft that achieves ultra-long endurance by combining two or more power systems (e.g., fuel and electric, fuel cell and lithium battery, etc.) with aerodynamic optimization and lightweight design. Intelligent energy management technology can dramatically extend the 0.5 to 1 hour range of traditional pure electric drones to more than 10 hours, or even 24 hours. These drones are typically powered by heavy fuel engines, add-on power modules or hydrogen fuel cells, with wings that have a large aspect ratio to reduce flight resistance, and optimize energy consumption by intelligently switching power modes (e.g., fuel-driven during cruise, electrically-assisted during takeoffs and landings). Its advantage is that it can perform long-distance missions without frequent charging, which is suitable for agricultural large-area plant protection monitoring, maritime maritime patrol and search and rescue, cross-regional logistics and transportation, and polar environment scientific research, etc. It especially meets the needs of remote areas with no charging facilities or the need for continuous operation, and it combines the durability of fuel power with the flexibility and low-noise characteristics of an electric system.
