Electronic fluoride is a highly stable fluorinated or perfluorinated liquid substance that is transparent, odorless, non-flammable, non-oil-based, low-toxic, non-corrosive, has a wide operating temperature range, high thermal stability and chemical stability; and has excellent dielectric constant, ideal chemical inertness, and excellent thermal conductivity. Electronic fluoride is widely used in many fields such as electronic testing, coolants, cleaning agents and solvents for liquid cooling technology.

At present, 3M dominates the electronic fluoride industry, especially in the field of semiconductor market, where 3M and Solvay occupy almost all market shares. In 2022, 3M announced that it would stop the production of all PFAS products, including fluorinated polymers, fluorinated liquids and related products based on PFAS addition, by the end of 2025, resulting in tight supply of global electronic fluoride and soaring prices. Although domestic electronic fluoride companies have a production capacity of more than 1,000 tons, it often takes several years to introduce the industrial chain of chip manufacturers. It is expected that after 2027, Chinese companies will occupy the main market. Europe and the United States have increasingly stringent supervision of perfluoropolyether-type products. Compared with the billions of dollars in litigation costs, electronic fluoride contribute less to the revenue of these companies, so most companies may not expand on a large scale. Based on this, we speculate that the market space will be filled by Chinese companies. Similarly, due to the lower prices of Chinese manufacturers, the average price of global electronic fluoride is expected to fall sharply.
