Cylindrical Mirror Analyzer (CMA) is an instrument used to analyze the energy of electrons, widely used in surface analysis spectrometer, such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and so on. It consists of two coaxial cylindrical electrodes inside and outside, the outer cylinder relative to the inner cylinder plus negative bias, thereby forming a deceleration field between the inner and outer cylinders. The electron beam is emitted in a direction at a specific Angle to the axis, and after being repulsed by the negative bias of the outer cylinder, it is focused on the central axis. By adjusting the negative bias on the outer cylinder, electrons of different energies can be analyzed, thus achieving accurate measurement of the electronic structure of the sample surface.
