It is a heat-sensitive semiconductor resistor whose resistance value decreases as the temperature increases. The temperature coefficient of resistance is in the range of -2%/k~-6%/k, which is roughly 10 times the temperature coefficient of metal resistance. Changes in resistance may be caused by changes in external ambient temperature or by self-heating due to current flow. Its various uses are based on this property.
