Description

The global Automotive Short Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyurethane market size is predicted to grow from US$ 881 million in 2025 to US$ 1352 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.4% from 2026 to 2032.

Global sales of automotive short glass fiber reinforced polyurethane reached 389,000 tons in 2025, with an average price of US$2,315 per ton.

Automotive short glass fiber reinforced polyurethane (SF-PU) is a composite material made by injection molding or compression molding of short glass fibers (<5 mm in length) as reinforcement, mixed with a polyurethane matrix (MDI/TDI + polyether/polyester polyol). It combines the flexibility and wear resistance of PU with the rigidity of glass fiber, allowing for the one-piece molding of complex thin-walled parts. It is mainly used in automotive interior parts, small body panels, and functional brackets.

Its raw material cost structure: Polyurethane system (isocyanate + polyol) approximately 2.2–2.6 USD/kg, accounting for 60–70% of the formulation; chopped glass fiber (1–5 mm) 1.6–1.9 USD/kg, accounting for 25–30%; the remaining 5–10% consists of coupling agents, catalysts, release agents, and other additives; the total raw material cost is approximately 2.3–3.0 USD/kg, of which the matrix resin contributes 55–65%, glass fiber 20–25%, and additives and losses 10–15%.
