Automotive SFR-PA refers to a thermoplastic composite material made by melt-blending and granulating 0.2–0.8 mm alkali-free short-cut glass fibers with PA6 or PA66 resin, followed by injection molding to produce non-load-bearing/semi-load-bearing automotive components. Its tensile strength, heat resistance, and dimensional stability are superior to pure PA, and it can long-term replace aluminum or sheet metal in coolant or oil temperature environments of 85–110 ℃, used in intake manifolds, battery covers, pedal brackets, etc.
On the raw material side, PA matrix accounts for 60-70% of the formulation mass and 65-75% of the cost; its monomer price fluctuates with the petroleum-benzene chain. Short-cut alkali-free glass fiber accounts for 25-35% and 20-25% of the cost; it is made from minerals such as quartz sand and limestone through high-temperature melting and drawing, resulting in high energy consumption and sensitivity to natural gas prices. The remaining 5-10% consists of coupling agents, heat stabilizers, and lubricants. Raw materials together account for 75-80% of the ex-factory price, making the polyamide resin market a decisive factor in cost fluctuations.
