Global Automotive Glass Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics Market Growth 2026-2032
Description
The global Automotive Glass Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics market size is predicted to grow from US$ 3510 million in 2025 to US$ 5495 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.7% from 2026 to 2032.
Global sales of automotive glass fiber reinforced thermoplastics reached 1.31 million tons in 2025, with an average price of US$2,734 per ton.
Automotive glass fiber reinforced thermoplastics (GFRTP) are composite materials made by adding 10–40% short or continuous alkali-free glass fibers to thermoplastic resins such as polypropylene (PP) and nylon (PA), along with compatibilizers, antioxidants, and other additives, through extrusion-injection molding or compression molding. Based on fiber length, they are divided into two main series: short glass fiber (0.2–0.6 mm) and long glass fiber (≥3 mm). The former is used for low-load components such as door panels and interior trim brackets, while the latter is used for structural components requiring high rigidity, creep resistance, and impact resistance, such as front-end modules, dashboard frames, and battery brackets.
In terms of raw materials, the matrix resin is mainly PP (accounting for over 50% of automotive plastics), and the glass fiber is 10–17 µm alkali-free chopped or continuous filaments. Additives include PP-g-MAH compatibilizers, antioxidants, and color masterbatches. In the cost structure, polypropylene resin accounts for approximately 35–45%, glass fiber 35–50%, compatibilizers and additives 5–10%, and the remainder is for energy consumption and manufacturing costs. The overall cost per ton is lower than that of metal and long carbon fiber solutions, making it the most widely used and cost-effective fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material in automotive lightweighting.
