Description

The global 4N Grade High-Purity Iron market size is predicted to grow from US$ 28.94 million in 2025 to US$ 66.48 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.9% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2024, global 4N Grade High-Purity Iron capacity 1,100 Tons, sales reached approximately 1,057.4 Tons, with an average market price of around 26.3 USD/Kg, industrial gross margin 37%.

Ultra-pure iron refers to highly refined iron produced by multi-stage purification routes such as electrolytic refining, vacuum melting and vertical floating-zone/zone-refining, in which typical metallic and gaseous impurities (C, O, N, S, P, Si, Mn, Cu, etc.) are pushed down to the ppm or even sub-ppm level. Grades usually start from 4N (Fe ≥ 99.99%) and go to 5N (Fe ≥ 99.999%) and, for some research and semiconductor uses, 6N (99.9999%), with very tight limits on total gas, inclusions and trace elements. Such ultra-pure iron delivers very high permeability and very low coercivity, making it a base metal for high-end magnetic, electronic and coating applications. Recent Chinese breakthroughs on 5N equipment and product standards, plus engineering-scale 4N–5N lines announced in 2025, show that the market is shifting from “lab-grade” to "industrial/custom" supply.

Driven by the rapid development of high-end manufacturing sectors such as new energy, semiconductors, precision instruments, and aerospace in recent years, the market demand for ultrapure iron has continued to rise. Its superior magnetic properties and high purity make it irreplaceable in applications such as rare-earth permanent magnets, amorphous alloys, magnetic shielding, and energy storage materials. Especially in the fields of new energy vehicle drive motors, chip manufacturing, and high-end sensors, the proportion of 4N and 5N grade ultrapure iron being used is gradually expanding, becoming an important direction for the domestic substitution of materials.
