Governments throughout the world are launching projects and sponsoring educational institutions, research centres, and research and technology organisations to further investigate and stimulate the development of 3D printing technology. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada have all launched government programmes aimed at fostering university-level 3D printing research, accelerating technological innovation, and establishing start-ups. The advent of novel uses for 3D printing has piqued the interest of businesses and governments worldwide. The UK National Strategy for Additive Manufacturing 2023-2030, for example, seeks to reach EUR 3,500 million in gross value added (GVA) per year by 2030, as well as 60,000 employment across industries. The plan represents a comprehensive set of proposals created by workgroups responsible for certain themes.
