The Cloud Skills Shortage in Europe Part 2: Tackling the Crisis
This IDC Market Perspective is a sequel from the analysis developed in partnership with IDC's European Cloud Innovation & Services team. In IDC's The Cloud Skills Shortage in Europe Part 1: How Serious Is It? (IDC #EUR149184522, June 2022), we discussed how a lack of IT specialists was hampering European organizations in their cloud and digital transformation journeys and identified the specific areas of expertise that were most in demand. In this second part, we examine what's being done to tackle the cloud skills crisis and whether all stakeholders across industry and state levels are playing their part."As cloud usage continues to expand across Europe, organizations are — more than ever — seeking specific skills and expertise to fuel their cloud transformation journeys. However, the competition for talent is fierce, and the success of wider cloud implementation may depend on concerted efforts from technology and service providers, industry users, governments, and other interested parties in ensuring that appropriately trained talent is available to support not only the enterprise digital needs for today, but also for tomorrow," said Leonardo Freitas, research manager, IDC's European Skills Practice.
