Description
U.S. 5G Connections Forecast, 2023–2027
This IDC study provides the U.S. 5G connections forecast for 2023–2027.“5G became the modus operandi for the majority of mobile subscribers in the United States in 2023, though not because it was an intent-based decision, but rather the ubiquity of coverage, inclusion of 5G in nearly all wireless service plans, and the increasing number of 5G-capable devices on the market have led mobile subscribers to find themselves on 5G,” says Jason Leigh, research manager, 5G and Mobile Services, IDC. “But the development of scalable, profitable use cases commensurate with the level of investment to build out these networks has lagged, and it is incumbent upon all 5G ecosystem players to integrate their innovation efforts to create new, meaningful use cases that leverage this established base of 5G subscribers for new revenue and incentivize and accelerate continued migration to 5G.”
