Polyurethane Chemicals and Products in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), 2024- Volume 8 - Major End-Use Markets
Description
This is the final volume in a series of eight that examines the market for polyurethane chemicals and their use in the manufacture of polyurethane products in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). This volume specifically focuses on the end-use markets for polyurethanes. The eight volumes are titled: Raw Materials, Flexible Foam, Rigid Foam, Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants, Elastomers, Binders, and End-Use Markets. Each volume can be used alone and includes a summary with details of the total use of polyurethane chemicals.
This new study updates and revises IAL's research on the polyurethane industry in EMEA. It is based on an extensive program of interviews with raw materials producers and suppliers, end users, systems houses, trade associations, and industry experts. The research was conducted in the first quarter of 2025, with respondents providing figures for the full year of 2024. The report contains raw material consumption figures for major polyurethane product types for 2024 and forecasts to 2029.
Scope of the Study
The report covers the supply and demand of raw materials in the following geographic regions:
Western Europe: Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Nordic Countries, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Eastern Europe: CIS (excluding Russia), Czechia, Hungary, Other Eastern Europe (including Baltic States, Bulgaria), Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Rest of Eastern Europe.
Middle East & Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Levant, East Africa, Morocco, Other GCC, Other Middle East, Other North Africa, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, and West Africa.
Methodology
The information in this volume comes from existing in-house data and an extensive program of interviews with leading product manufacturers, trade associations, raw material producers, and systems houses across EMEA. Published data and statistics were reviewed to produce the most accurate figures possible for raw material consumption. Forecasts for the production of PU products and consumption of raw materials for the year 2029 are based on industry and economic forecasts, as well as other relevant commercial and technical issues. Detailed market analyses of all product sectors are presented in the relevant volumes. Slight discrepancies in the totals may occur due to rounding.
Products and End Uses
This volume covers the following major end-use sectors for polyurethane:
Automotive
Building and Construction
Footwear
Furniture and Bedding
Refrigeration
The major PU products covered include:
Flexible Foam: Moulded Foam, Semi-rigid Foam, Integral Skin Foam, and Slabstock.
Rigid Foam: Laminated Panels (Continuous/ Discontinuous), Slabstock, Sprayed Foam (SPF), Pre-insulated Pipe, One Component Foam (OCF), and Refrigeration.
Other Products: Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Elastomers (Cast and Microcellular).
Units of Volume
All volumes are quoted in tonnes of finished PU products and tonnes of raw material consumed, unless otherwise stated.
Forecasts
The forecasts in this report are based on industry comments and economic indicators. It can be difficult to summarize forecasts due to the many different factors that may affect the market. Manufacturers often cannot agree on whether a market will increase or decrease. Five-year forecasts for changes in production by product type and application are provided for each country. Forecasts for 2029 are given alongside the actual production figures for 2024.
