Zone Melting Grade Polysilicon is an ultra-high purity polysilicon material refined through the zone refining process, typically used for producing high-performance single crystal silicon. This material requires extremely high purity, usually reaching 9N (99.9999999%) or above, which makes it primarily suitable for applications in high-end semiconductor devices, RF devices, aerospace, and certain specialized research equipment, all of which require exceptional purity and electrical performance. The production of zone-refined polysilicon uses the zone refining technique, a process that heats the polysilicon rod to a localized molten state, utilizing a temperature gradient to eliminate impurities. As the molten zone moves along the silicon rod, impurities are forced into the molten portion, thereby purifying the silicon material. This method produces very high purity silicon and avoids the contamination that may occur in other processes (such as the Czochralski method).

Zone melting grade polysilicon is an ultra-high purity raw material used for growing single-crystal silicon through the Float Zone (FZ) method. With purity levels reaching 9N or higher, it is widely applied in high-end power devices, RF components, and aerospace detectors. Compared to electronic-grade polysilicon, zone-refined polysilicon has much stricter requirements for metal impurities, oxygen, carbon, and other elements. It accounts for only a small fraction of the overall polysilicon market, making it a niche high-end material with high technical barriers and limited supply. Currently, only a few manufacturers worldwide have the capability for stable production, mainly supplying advanced semiconductor manufacturing and research institutions.
