On the risk side, the sector is exposed to precious-metal volatility, to compliance tightening around hazardous substances, and to competition from alternative interconnect and packaging routes such as plated copper on ceramic or direct-bonded copper laminates. However, the ability of thick-film materials to co-optimize adhesion, solderability, thermal cycling endurance and dielectric integrity on diverse substrates continues to differentiate the technology, particularly where mixed materials, hermeticity, or rapid pattern changes are required.
