Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a non-polar chain polymer with a molecular weight generally greater than 300000. It is a white powdery crystalline polymer. The melting point of PVDF is 170 ℃, and its thermal decomposition temperature exceeds 316 ℃. The long-term use temperature range is -40 ℃ to 150 ℃. PVDF can connect the positive electrode active material, conductive agent, and current collector, thereby reducing electrode impedance and battery polarization. Due to its strong high-voltage resistance, good thermal stability, and easy dispersion, PVDF has become one of the most commonly used positive electrode binders, occupying about 90% of the market share. With the rapid development of high-voltage and high-energy density battery systems, high-voltage stability has become an important indicator of binders. Compared to water-based binders, PVDF with a wide electrochemical window is even more irreplaceable.
