Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) is a new type of polymer material. Liquid crystal polymer is an intermediate phase polymer between crystal and liquid. After being heated and melted or dissolved by a solvent, it will change from rigid fixation to a fluid liquid substance while maintaining the orientation of the crystalline substance. Order, thereby forming a liquid crystal state that has both liquid fluidity and orderly arrangement of crystalline molecules. From the perspective of molecular structure, LCP has a rigid rod-shaped molecular chain structure. The molecular chains can be arranged in a high degree of orientation, the structure is tightly packed, and the force between macromolecules is relatively large. Therefore, compared with other organic polymer materials, LCP exhibits excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, high strength mechanical properties, superior electrical properties and processing properties.
In the Chinese market, major manufacturers of electronic LCP resins include Celanese, DAICEL, Sumitomo-Chem, etc. The top three manufacturers account for more than 60% of the total share.
According to product types, electronic LCP resins can be mainly divided into Type I, Type II, and Type III, among which Type II is dominant, accounting for about 65% of the total market share. From the application point of view, electronic and electrical is the market leader, which occupies more than 80% of the total market share, followed by consumer electronics.
