Electro-magnetic brakes are also called Electro-mechanical Brakes or EM brakes. Electromagnetic brake is a mechanical part that stops or decelerates moving parts in a machine. Commonly known as brakes. The brake is mainly composed of a brake frame, brake parts and a control device. Some brakes are also equipped with an automatic adjustment of the brake clearance. In order to reduce the braking torque and structure size, the brake is usually installed on the high-speed shaft of the equipment, but large equipment with high safety requirements (such as mine hoists, elevators, etc.) should be installed on the low-speed shaft near the working part of the equipment on.

The upstream raw materials for electro-magnetic brakes primarily include: mild steel/cast iron for the magnetic circuit and structural components, aluminum alloy housings and heat sinks; enameled copper (or aluminum) wire and bobbin/epoxy potting compound for the coils; alloy steel for springs, hubs, and splines; and permanent magnet materials (such as ferrite, NdFeB, or SmCo) for latching brakes.

Electro-magnetic brakes have a wide range of downstream applications: in the mechanical field, they are used for rapid positioning, emergency stopping and holding of machine tools/servo axes; in material handling, they provide holding/parking brakes and emergency brakes for forklifts, AGVs and conveyor lines; robots and automation scenarios (joints, Z-axis screws, lightweight servos) emphasize low-inertia, low-backlash power-off self-locking brakes; elevators/escalators are used to prevent upward overspeed and non-commanded movement, and meet safety requirements such as EN81/ASME; medical equipment (MRI/CT/surgical robots, patient beds) require quietness, precise positioning and high reliability; other applications include gates, rolling doors and access control.
