As a white waxy solid, CHDM is an important organic chemical raw material. Its molecular formula is C8H16O2 and its molecular weight is 144.21. CHDM has two isomers, namely, cis and trans. In industrial production, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol uses dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) as raw material, and the benzene ring is hydrogenated to produce dimethyl 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate (DMCD), and DMCD is further hydrogenated to produce CHDM. As the core raw material for the production of high-end polyester, the production technology of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol has long been mastered by companies in the United States, South Korea and other countries, including Eastman Company of the United States and SK Chemical of South Korea. The synthesis of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol is difficult. Due to the limitations of technology and raw materials, there are currently few companies in my country that have truly achieved large-scale production of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, and market demand still relies on imports.
