Description
Mining Software: Global Mine Site Survey of Investment Status and Supplier Choice, 2025
Summary
GlobalData’s latest mine-site technology adoption survey shows a higher degree of investment in mine planning & scheduling software versus mine management software. Some 61% had already fully implemented or considerably invested in the former, while 47% had done so for mine management software
When comparing the majors to the medium and smaller miners, the majors had invested to a greater extent, although the difference was smaller for mine planning software. However, when it came to expectations for investment in the next two years, there was a lower share of majors to small/medium-sized miners who were expecting to invest more, across both planning and management software.
Across the 842 operating mines tracked where mine planning and management software providers were known, the most popular suppliers were Datamine, Dassault Systemes and Autodesk. Overall, 44% of mines use Datamine (including Minemax and Snowden Optira), while 36% use Dassault Systemes and 24% use Autodesk. Deswik, Maptek, Bentley Systems and Hexagon came close behind from fourth to seventh, all present at 20% or more of mines covered.
Datamine was the leading player across Africa & the Middle East; Europe & FSU and North and South America. Dassault Systemes was leader in Asia, while Maptek was the leader in Australasia.
