For instance, in September 2024, Keikyu Line stations launched a contactless ticket payment system which enables credit card holders to make payments at the automated ticket gates. The campaign ran from April 3 to May 30, 2025. This incentive aims to incentivize customers to embrace the convenience and security of contactless payments.
  • Companies are launching payment solutions to better serve customers. In January 2025, the South Korean food delivery app Coupang Eats launched its service in Japan in partnership with the delivery app Rocket Now. Similarly, in February 2025, Rakuten partnered with the tech company Avride to announce the launch of delivery robots that deliver restaurant orders and groceries to the neighborhoods of Harumi, Kachidoki, and Tsukishima in Central Tokyo.
