Description
General Purpose LEDs and Other High-Efficiency Lighting in the US by Product, Market and Region, 5th Edition
The transition away from older lighting technologies will benefit LEDs and other high-efficiency lighting products. These products will continue to benefit from increasing energy efficiency standards and the ongoing phase-out of inefficient lighting. Large volumes of inefficient lamps were still salable and in use in 2017, most of which will be replaced by efficient products by 2022. In addition to the transition from inefficient to efficient lighting, LED lamps’ outstanding energy efficiency will create a great deal of competition among efficient lamps, affecting overall market size as high-value LED products gain market share. However, there are significant factors that will limit growth, including improvements in service life, ongoing development of lighting control systems, and competition from lighting that combines lamp and fixture into one product. This new study discusses how these factors will impact sales of LEDs and other high-efficiency lighting products going forward.
High-efficiency lighting products include:
LED lamps (directional, omnidirectional, linear)
Fluorescent lamps (CFL, linear fluorescent)
HID lamps (sodium vapor, metal halide)
Markets for high-efficiency lighting include:
Nonresidential buildings
Residential buildings
Roadway, parking, and other outdoor lighting
Regional breakouts include:
Northeast
Midwest
South
West
