Philippines Telecom Market Report and Forecast 2025-2034
Description
The Philippines telecom market reached around USD 6.13 Billion in 2024. The market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.10% between 2025 and 2034 to reach nearly USD 9.16 Billion by 2034.
Philippines Telecom Market Growth
As per the National Telecommunication Commission, the Philippines has nearly 23,000 cell sites, which is lower than its neighbouring counterparts like Vietnam (90,000) and Bangladesh (30,000). As per the Asian Development Bank, the Philippines needs to establish 60,000 additional cell towers by 2031 in its GIDA (Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas). As per the World Bank, though the Philippines has the most expensive rates for internet subscriptions in Southeast Asia, the speed of connectivity is relatively slow as compared to other countries like Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, and Malaysia. Therefore, the Philippines needs to invest nearly $1.1 billion to expand the coverage of fibre optic networks in the country.
Improvements in the regulations of telecom are expected to facilitate the market growth. In May 2020, the Philippines’ Department of ICT introduced the Common Tower Policy, which is expected to drive the coverage of mobile networks in the country. Besides, the DICT and BCDA (Bases and Conversion Development Authority) are collectively executing the National Broadband Plan worth $20 million, which includes the National Free Wi-Fi Program, Common Tower Policy, and satellite overlay under its ambit.
