Vanadium electrolyte is a liquid solution used in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) to store and release electrical energy. Composed primarily of vanadium salts dissolved in a sulfuric acid solution, vanadium electrolyte facilitates the redox reactions that occur within the battery during charging and discharging cycles. In a VRFB, the electrolyte flows through separate tanks, with each tank containing vanadium ions in different oxidation states.
