Solar cell paste refers to a critical material used in the manufacture of photovoltaic (PV) cells, which are the essential components of solar panels. This paste is typically a mixture of finely dispersed metal particles (such as silver or aluminum), glass frit (for adhesion and conductivity), and an organic binder or solvent. The paste is applied to the surfaces of semiconductor materials, most commonly silicon wafers, using screen printing or other deposition methods. Its primary function is to create electrical contacts on both the front and rear surfaces of the solar cell. On the front side, silver paste forms fine grid lines (busbars) and finger contacts that collect and conduct electricity generated when sunlight strikes the semiconductor material. Aluminum paste is often used on the rear side to create a larger contact area (back surface field) to enhance electrical conductivity and efficiency. Solar cell paste is designed to adhere well to semiconductor surfaces, withstand high temperatures during processing (firing), exhibit high electrical conductivity, and maintain stability and reliability over the lifetime of the solar panel.
