Zorlu Energy (Zorlu), a unit of Zorlu Energy Group is planning to build a geothermal power plant in Kizildere, Aydin Province, Turkey.
The project involves the construction of a 65MW geothermal power plant. It will include the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, and related infrastructure, the installation of steam turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
On September 13, 2016, Toshiba Corporation awarded a contract to supply an approximately 50,700kW flash steam generation system and an approximately 19,300kW binary cycle power generation system.
Zorlu presented an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) package for the project on December 8, 2016.
As of December 2016, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is in the process of providing up to US$70 million loan for the project.
After the ESIA disclosure, there will be a 60-day public review and comment period, with the EBRD board expected to decide on the loan on February 22, 2017.
