Exxon Mobil Corporation (XOM) and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) are planning to undertake the construction of an offshore gas field in Vietnam.
The project involves the construction of a gas field with a production capacity of 375 million cubic feet per day of natural gas and 3,000 barrels of condensate per day.
The project will include the construction of a wellhead platform to handle offshore water separator, underground mining clusters with each cluster has four exploitation wells, and a pipeline of 88km coastline connected to Chu Lai and the installation of mechanical and electrical systems, safety and security systems.
In July 2013, XOM and PetroVietnam signed a cooperation agreement for the project development plans.
On January 13, 2017, XOM and PetroVietnam signed a framework head of agreement and a gas sales agreement.
The Final Investment Decision (FID) is expecting to sign in the 2019 and the whole project is scheduled to be completed by 2023.
Scope
The project involves the construction of a gas field with a production capacity of 375 million cubic feet per day of gas and 3,000 barrels of condensate per day in the South China Sea, about 80km off the coast between Quang Nam and Quang Ngai central provinces in Vietnam.
The US$10,000 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a wellhead platform to handle offshore water separator
2. Construction of underground mining clusters
3. Construction of 88km pipeline
4. Installation of mechanical and electrical systems
5. Installation of safety and security systems
