Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is planning to upgrade a road corridor in Wisconsin, the US.
The project involves the upgrade of a 56km Interstate-39/90/94 corridor between the Beltline in Madison and Highway 78 near Portage in Wisconsin.
It includes the construction of carriage ways, service roads, bridges and related infrastructure, the upgrade to interchanges, including the Badger Interchange with Interstate 94, adding lanes in both directions and improvements to the 37 bridges in the corridor.
The project also includes the improvement to intersecting routes including the Highway 30 from East Washington Avenue in Madison to the Badger Interchange; I-94 from I-39-90 to Highway N in Cottage Grove; Highway 151 from the Interstate to Main Street in Sun Prairie; and the triangle formed by Highways 51 and 19 and the interstate near DeForest.
WisDOT has appointed AECOM as the study consultant.
Mead & Hunt, TranSmart Technolgies Inc, Traffic Analysis and Design, Raptor Services, Leonard & Finco Public Relations, Inc., and University of Wisconsin Milwaukee were appointed as consultants to assist AECOM.
Tier 1 EIS National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) corridor study that began in 2014 and completed on February 24, 2017.
On February 28, 2017, WisDOT has terminated the initial study, which identified seven possible alternatives, including widening the existing Interstate as well as four new off-alignment corridors. The termination of the study removes all of these alternatives from consideration.
Planning activities are underway.
