Wyong Shire Council (WSC) is planning to undertake Wyong education and business precinct in Warnervale, New South Wales, Australia.
The project involves the construction of an education and business park on 455ha of land.
It includes the construction of a 1,500-unit student accommodation facility, retail, sport and recreation facilities, a university and education infrastructure, a SMARTS Hub knowledge and community centre, a business park, a pool/gym complex, a hotel for short term accommodation, pedestrian and cycle pathways, office buildings, parking, related facilities and the installation of elevators and safety systems.
In 2007, investigations and planning works commenced.
In November 2008, a funding agreement was signed between Hannan Pty Ltd and Bitova and WSC to fund the rezoning, supporting studies and documents.
In December 2008, WSC prepared an amendment according to Wyong Local Environmental Plan (WLEP) 1991 to rezone Precinct 7A.
In March 2012, the draft planning proposal (DPP) was exhibited to public.
In July 2012, the Department of Planning and Infrastructure (DP&I) approved the initial Gateway Determination.
Cox Architecture has been appointed as architect; Architectus as landscape architect; and Douglas Partners as environmental consultant.
On June 3, 2015, WSC issued an Expression of interest (EOI) from the corporations and universities for the establishment of education and business precinct.
WSC is in the process of finalizing EOI from the various developers.
