Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) is planning to construct a new mega hospital in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
The project involves the construction of a hospital building comprising 500 beds on 24ha area. The 10 story, 148,664m2 hospital building will comprise construction of a long-term care facility, operating theaters, an emergency unit, parking facility, other related facilities, installation of elevators and safety and security systems.
In March 2013, preliminary study on the project was conducted but the actual site was not conformed.
In March 2014, Provincial government has given the committee the permission to proceed to the next stage in the process, known as Stage 1B, which will include the site selection, architectural master plans, an implementation schedule, detailed analysis of services that will be integrated at this hospital, high-level funding and financing plans, and the future use of existing facilities. Stage 1B process is expected to complete within 12 months.
In July 2014, WRH has issued request for proposal (RFP) for property owners to submit requests for the new acute care hospital with last submission date as September 24, 2014.

As of February 2015, the location of the future hospital is still not decided, but so far 20 applicants have come forward.
On July 16, 2015, a site on southeast corner of County Road 42 and Concession Road 9 was selected.
In April 2017, project secured preliminary approvals and WRH is in the process of seeking final approvals.
