Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) is planning to expand the hospital in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, the US.
The expansion includes a 3-story, 7,897m2 rectangular structure comprising 90 beds will be added to the west side of the existing building. It includes the construction of labs, 54 patient rooms, a 595m2 helipad, 100 parking spaces and related facilities.
The expansion project will feature 50 patient rooms spread evenly over two floors with extra space on the third floor for later additions as the hospital continues to grow. The roof will contain an enclosed penthouse for equipment storage.
The three story building will accommodate 4,738m2 waiting areas, admissions, trauma units, and exam rooms; administrative offices and a rehab clinic occupy the upper stories. It also includes the renovation of a 90-bed patient area.
Sordoni Construction Services Inc. has been appointed as general contractor and T.A. Loving Company as the developer.
In January 2016, WMH submitted the project plans to the Honesdale Borough Council.
Honesdale Borough Council held a public hearing on January 19, 2017.
In April 2017, Wayne Memorial Hospital (also known as Wayne UNC Health Care) and T.A. Loving Company held a ground breaking on the project site.
Construction is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2017 and expected to complete by the second quarter of 2019.
