Repi Wilmar Industrial S.C, a joint venture of Repi Soap and Detergent S.C (REPI) and Wilmar International Ltd (WIL), is undertaking the construction of Sebeta Integrated Industrial Manufacturing Complex project in Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia.
The project involves the construction of an industrial complex on 100ha of land and being implemented in two phases of total 14 factories.
The first phase includes the construction of 10 factories with a capacity of producing 420,000 tonnes a year, comprising a palm oil refinery, soap detergent factory, and a sodium silicate melting and packaging plant.
The second phase includes the construction of the rest four factories – a wheat milling factory, a fertilizer factory, a pasta factory and a soybean oil refinery.
It also includes the construction of administrative office space, warehouses, parking facilities, the installation machinery, safety and security systems.
In July 2014, REPI and WlIL signed an investment agreement for the project.
On May 10, 2015, a foundation stone laid for the project.
In December 2016, Wilmar secured two investment licenses to construct edible oil, soap and detergent factories in the outskirts of Mekelle and 20ha of land has been allotted.
Planning activities are underway. Construction works are scheduled to be completed by 2020.
