Brazil' state owned Valec Engenharia, Construção e Ferrovias is constructing the 1,527km railroad from the city of Ilhéus, in the coastal region of Bahia, to the municipality of Figueirópolis, in Tocantins, Brazil.
The project includes the construction of 1,527km long railway lines, bridges, and viaducts, stations, pedestrian bridges and installation of signaling systems which will be developed in 7 Lots.
The project is being developed in three phases:
Andrade Gutierrez, Barbosa Mello, and Serveng formed consortium has been awarded the US$439 million contract for 537km section of Ilhéus and Caetité in Lot 7.
Mendes Junior, Sanches Tripolini, and Fidens formed consortium has been awarded the US$426 million contract for the 485km section until the municipality of Barreiras in LoT 5.
Remaining 505km from Barreiras to Figueirópolis is in the process to get the installation license from Ibama.
Construction works are underway and the federal government is planning to launch the concession tender by 2018.
