Verdant Minerals Ltd (VRM) is planning to develop the mine in Barrow creek, Northern Territory, Australia.
The project involves the construction, development, and operation of a surface open-pit mine and associated infrastructure with a production capacity of 2MTPA of ore on 313,314ha of land and being implemented in two phase with a capacity of 1MTPA each.
The project includes the construction of a sulphuric acid plant, a slurry pipeline, a haul road and other related facilities.
In 2010, RUM discovered phosphate at the Ammaroo site.
In October 2011, RUM commenced reconnaissance exploration drilling on the project.
In September 2014, a pre-feasibility study on the project was completed.
On September 9, 2015, an updated study was completed to reflect improved input costs and altered exchange rates.
In September 2016, RUM appointed the GHD Pty Ltd (“GHD”) as a lead consultant and WorleyParsons Limited as study consultant in the development and submission of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project.
Coffey Mining, MPR Geological Consultants Pty Ltd has been appointed as the consultant and EcOz Environmental Services as the environmental consultant.
Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) activities are underway and also VRM is in the process of submitting environmental impact assessment (EIS) report by September 2017 for the project implementation. BFS activities are scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2017 and subject to the approvals, construction works are scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2018 with completion by the first quarter of 2020.
