University of Warwick (UoW) is undertaking the expansion of Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry, the UK.
The project involves the renovation and expansion of the existing arts centre. The project is planned to be developed in two phases.
The first phase involves the refurbishment works which includes the renovation of theatre, studio theatre, upper foyers, backstage technical areas, backstage performers areas, and offices space.
The second phase includes the demolition of mead gallery, cinema, bookshop and atrium and the construction of new mead gallery a new cafe and bar, three new HD digital auditoriums with a capacity of 250, 180 and 60 seats, projection machine room and rooftop plant access and the installation of safety and security system.
First phase will be renovated between October 2017 to June 2018, and the second phase between October 2018 to October 2020.
Ellis Williams Architects has been appointed as an architect and Hoare Lea as MEP consultant.
On February 27, 2017, UoW submitted the planning application to the Coventry City Council.
Planning activities are underway and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by October 2020.
