University of Alexandria (UoA) is planning to undertake the Alexandria Hospitals Development project in Egypt.
The project involves the construction of a healthcare complex comprising two hospitals at the University campus.
It will include the construction of a 200-bed Smouha Maternity University Hospital and a 224-bed Alexandria University Mowassat Specialized Hospital.
The project will be developed in Public–private partnership (PPP) basis.
IFC has been appointed as financial advisor, Mott Macdonald technical consultant and Trowers & Hamlins as legal advisors.
In second quarter of 2012, A consortium comprising Bareeq Capital, Keppie Design, Detac Construction, G4S and Siemens, have been appointed as design, build, finance and manage (DBFM) contractor the project.
Mace has been appointed as the PMC contractor, T.H.E Architects, Planners & Civil Engineers Inc. and Keppie Design as architects for the project.
The project has been facing delay due to issues in PPP contract terms.
